Acts - Chapter: 4

>
4:1And as they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them,
4:2Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.
4:3And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now eventide.
4:4Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand.
4:5And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes,
4:6And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.
4:7And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?
4:8Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
4:9If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;
4:10Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
4:11This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
4:12Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
4:13Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
4:14And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.
4:15But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,
4:16Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.
4:17But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.
4:18And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.
4:19But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.
4:20For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.
4:21So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done.
4:22For the man was above forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was shewed.
4:23And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them.
4:24And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:
4:25Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?
4:26The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.
4:27For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,
4:28For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.
4:29And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,
4:30By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.
4:31And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
4:32And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
4:33And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.
4:34Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,
4:35And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.
4:36And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus,
4:37Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet.

4:1And as they spake vnto the people, the Priestes and the Captaine of the Temple, and the Sadduces came vpon them,
4:2Taking it grieuously that they taught the people, and preached in Iesus Name the resurrection from the dead.
4:3And they layde handes on them, and put them in holde, vntill the next day: for it was now euentide.
4:4Howbeit, many of them which heard the word, beleeued, and the number of the men was about fiue thousand.
4:5And it came to passe on the morow, that their rulers, and Elders, and Scribes, were gathered together at Hierusalem,
4:6And Annas the chiefe Priest, and Caiaphas, and Iohn, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the hie Priestes.
4:7And whe they had set them before them, they asked, By what power, or in what Name haue ye done this?
4:8Then Peter ful of the holy Ghost, said vnto them, Ye rulers of the people, and Elders of Israel,
4:9For as much as we this day are examined of the good deede done to the impotent man, to wit, by what meanes he is made whole,
4:10Be it knowen vnto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye haue crucified, whome God raised againe from the dead, euen by him doth this man stand here before you, whole.
4:11This is the stone cast aside of you builders which is become the head of the corner.
4:12Neither is there saluation in any other: for among men there is giuen none other Name vnder heauen, whereby we must be saued.
4:13Now when they sawe the boldnes of Peter and Iohn, and vnderstoode that they were vnlearned men and without knowledge, they marueiled, and knew them, that they had bin with Iesus:
4:14And beholding also the man which was healed standing with them, they had nothing to say against it.
4:15Then they commanded them to goe aside out of the Council, and conferred among themselues,
4:16Saying, What shall we doe to these men? for surely a manifest signe is done by them, and it is openly knowen to all them that dwell in Hierusalem: and we cannot denie it.
4:17But that it be noysed no farther among the people, let vs threaten and charge them, that they speake hencefoorth to no man in this Name.
4:18So they called them, and commanded them, that in no wise they should speake or teach in the Name of Iesus.
4:19But Peter and Iohn answered vnto them, and said, Whether it be right in the sight of God, to obey you rather then God, iudge ye.
4:20For we cannot but speake the things which we haue seene and heard.
4:21So they threatened them, and let them goe, and found nothing how to punish them, because of the people: for all men praised God for that which was done.
4:22For the man was aboue fourtie yeeres olde, on whome this miracle of healing was shewed.
4:23Then assoone as they were let goe, they came to their fellowes, and shewed all that the hie Priestes and Elders had said vnto them.
4:24And when they heard it, they lift vp their voyces to God with one accord, and said, O Lord, thou art the God which hast made the heaue, and the earth, the sea, and all things that are in them,
4:25Which by the mouth of thy seruant Dauid hast saide, Why did the Gentiles rage, and the people imagine vaine things?
4:26The Kings of the earth assembled, and the rulers came together against the Lord, and against his Christ.
4:27For doutlesse, against thine holy Sonne Iesus, whome thou haddest anoynted, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel gathered themselues together,
4:28To doe whatsoeuer thine hand, and thy counsell had determined before to be done.
4:29And nowe, O Lord, beholde their threatnings, and graunt vnto thy seruants with all boldnesse to speake thy word,
4:30So that thou stretch forth thine hand, that healing, and signes, and wonders may be done by the Name of thine holy Sonne Iesus.
4:31And when as they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together, and they were all filled with the holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God boldely.
4:32And the multitude of them that beleeued, were of one heart, and of one soule: neither any of them said, that any thing of that which he possessed, was his owne, but they had all thinges common.
4:33And with great power gaue the Apostles witnes of the resurrection of the Lord Iesus: and great grace was vpon them all.
4:34Neither was there any among them, that lacked: for as many as were possessours of landes or houses, solde them, and brought the price of the things that were solde,
4:35And layde it downe at the Apostles feete, and it was distributed vnto euery man, according as he had neede.
4:36Also Ioses which was called of the Apostles, Barnabas (that is by interpretation the sonne of consolation) being a Leuite, and of the countrey of Cyprus,
4:37Where as he had land, solde it, and brought the money, and laid it downe at the Apostles feete.

4:1As they spake vnto the people the prestes and the rular of the teple and the Saduces came vpon them
4:2takynge it grevously that they taught ye pople and preached in Iesus the resurreccion fro deeth.
4:3And they layde hondes on them and put them in holde vntill the nexte daye: for it was now even tyde.
4:4How be it many of them which hearde the wordes beleved and the noumbre of the men was aboute fyve thousande.
4:5And it chaunsed on the morowe that their rulars and elders and Scribes
4:6as Annas the chefe Prest and Cayphas and Iohn and Alexander and as many as were of ye kynred of the hye prestes gadered to geder at Ierusalem
4:7and set the other before them and axed: by what power or what name have ye done this syrs?
4:8Then Peter full of ye holy goost sayd vnto them: ye rulars of the people and elders of Israel
4:9yf we this daye are examined of the good dede done to the sycke man by what meanes he is made whoale:
4:10be yt knowen vnto you all and to the people of Israel that in the name of Iesus Christ of Nazareth whom ye crucified and whom God raysed agayne from deeth: even by him doth this man stonde here present before you whoale.
4:11This is ye stone cast a syde of you bylders which is set in the chefe place of the corner.
4:12Nether is ther salvacio in eny other. Nor yet also is ther eny other name geven to men wherin we must be saved.
4:13When they sawe the boldnes of Peter and Iohn and vnderstode that they were vnlerned men and laye people they marveyled and they knew them that they were with Iesu:
4:14and beholdinge also the ma which was healed stondinge with the they coulde not saye agaynst it.
4:15But they comaunded them to go a syde out of the counsell and counceled amoge them selves
4:16sayinge: what shall we do to these men? For a manifest signe is done by the and is openly knowen to all them that dwell in Ierusalem and we canot denye it.
4:17But that it be noysed no farther amoge the people let us threaten and charge them that they speake hence forth to no man in this name.
4:18And they called them and comaunded them that in no wyse they shuld speake or teache in the name of Iesu.
4:19But Peter and Iohn answered vnto them and sayde: whether it be right in the syght of God to obeye you moare then God iudge ye.
4:20For we canot but speake that which we have sene and hearde.
4:21So threatened they them and let them goo and founde no thinge how to punysshe them because of the people. For all me lauded God for the myracle which was done:
4:22for the man was above fourty yeare olde on whom this myracle of healinge was shewed.
4:23Assone as they were let goo they came to their felowes and shewed all that the hye prestes and elders had sayde to them.
4:24And when they hearde that they lyfte vp their voyces to God with one accorde and sayde: Lorde thou arte God which hast made heaven and erth the see and all that in them is
4:25which by the mouth of thy servaunt David hast sayd: Why dyd the hethen rage and the people immagen vayne thinges.
4:26The kynges of the erth stode vp and the rulars came to gedder agaynst the Lorde and agaynst his Christ.
4:27For of a trueth agaynst thy holy chylde Iesus whom thou hast annoynted bothe Herode and also Poncius Pylate with the Gentils and the people of Israel gaddered them selves to gedder
4:28for to do whatsoever thy honde and thy counsell determined before to be done.
4:29And now Lorde beholde their threatenynges and graunte vnto thy servauntes with all confidence to speake thy worde.
4:30So that thou stretche forth thy honde that healynge and signes and wonders be done by the name of thy holy chylde Iesus.
4:31And assone as they had prayed the place moved wheare they were assembled to gedder and they were all filled with the holy goost and they spake the worde of God boldely.
4:32And the multitude of them that beleved were of one hert and of one soule. Also none of them sayde that eny of the thinges which he possessed was his awne: but had all thinges commen.
4:33And with greate power gave the Apostles witnes of the resurreccion of the Lorde Iesu. And greate grace was with them all.
4:34Nether was ther eny amonge them that lacked. For as many as were possessers of londes or housses solde them and brought the pryce of the thinges that were solde
4:35and layed yt doune at the Apostles fete. And distribucion was made vnto every man accordinge as he had nede.
4:36And Ioses which was also called of the Apostles Barnabas (that is to saye the sonne of consolacion) beynge a Levite and of the countre of Cipers
4:37had londe and solde it. and layde the pryce doune at the Apostles fete.
